We took the opportunity to interview Bella from BellaEatwards (fitness lover, foodie, gut-health fanatic and recipe developer) and get her thoughts on How to Make Yourself a Priority as we get into the full swing of 2020.
Q: How do you make time for yourself?
A: I really make an effort to carve out at least an hour of my day dedicated to self-care. While yes, there are only so many hours in a day, it’s all about prioritizing. Whether it’s waking up an hour earlier, spending less time doing other tasks, I’m a big believer in if something’s important to you, you’ll make it happen! Also, taking care of yourself doesn’t have to mean anything crazy. It can be anything from working out to making yourself a yummy lunch, to doing a face mask for ten minutes.
Q: How do you make yourself a priority?
A: This is something I’m currently working on. With other relationships and obligations, it can be hard to make yourself a priority. This has helped me realize the importance of boundaries; finding the people who support you no matter what. The people who will respect the fact that you need alone time or do anything that helps you feel taken care of. Sometimes this means saying no to plans and that’s okay! Your support network will understand when you need to do you, just ask.
Q: How do you focus on the aspects of life that matter most to your happiness?
A: I try to think about what brings me joy and how I feel when I do certain things. Does this make me feel fulfilled? Does this bring me joy? If so, let’s make a priority to do more of it!
Q: Are there any products/apps that help you?
A: I love the Calm app. This has really helped my anxiety and quality of sleep overall.
Q: Do you suggest any health hacks for us to incorporate?
A: Movement is a HUGE part of my daily routine. While it’s all about balance, my day doesn’t feel complete without it. It’s my favorite form of self-care and is a huge stress reliever for me.
